It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend last Monday. Nora died at her home surrounded by both her husband and children after a long battle with cancer.
Nora was born on September 17, 1952, to Robert Don Knight and Ruth Elfrieda Siebach in Burley, ID and was the second born of their ten children.
As the eldest daughter, Nora was her mother’s right hand and helped care for her younger siblings. She grew up working with her siblings on the family farm, as well as cooking and sewing for her many brothers and sisters. At a very young age, Nora showed great artistic talent. She was recognized often, even appearing in newspapers on multiple occasions, for her incredible talents.
Nora graduated from Burley High School in 1970 and continued her education at Ricks College and BYU from 1970 -1973 majoring in Art.
Nora met her first husband, Linn Albert Cornick at BYU in 1973 and they married in July of that same year. They then moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa where they had five children during their fourteen-year marriage.
During her years in Iowa, Nora taught art at IWC in Mt. Pleasant, did in-home childcare, and later worked at Cargill and Alaniz & Sons as a graphic designer.
Nora returned to Burley Idaho in 1987 and began working for the Times News as a political cartoonist. She met Randy Lee Golay in early 1988 and they were married on June 25 of that year. Randy and Nora had two more children together. They were later sealed in the Boise Idaho temple.
Nora continued to use her artistic talents over the years, but another great passion of hers was caring for little children. Nora loved little children, something she developed at a young age caring for her siblings. She had an in-home childcare facility in Jerome, but moved back to Burley Idaho in 1996 and bought the old Southwest School building to open a large educational child care facility, Reach-Me Teach-Me.
Nora was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent countless hours teaching and serving in many church callings over the course of her life. She was a kind, selfless individual who poured her heart and soul into everything she did, and her impact on family, friends, and communities is a true testament to who she was and the eternal love she had for her Savior.
Nora is survived by her husband, Randy, her children Danielle (Ethan) Morgan, Cristy (Shannon) Shirley, Chad Cornick, Kelly (Justin) Richardson, Jawnie McGraw, Aaron (Shelbi) Golay, and Randilee (Justin) Golay, her stepchildren Eric (Valerie) Auclaire, Riley (Danielle) Golay, Kaden (Amber) Golay, and Jolee Smith, twenty one grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Nora was preceded in death by both her parents, her brothers Timothy E. Knight, Robin Daniel Knight, and Robert David Knight, and granddaughter, Taylor Paige Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the LDS Church located at 2200 Oakley Avenue in Burley. A closed casket viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 am. at the church prior to the funeral. Nora will be buried in American Falls, Idaho.
The family would like to thank Intermountain Homecare & Hospice Cassia and the many friends and community members for the kind and loving care of Nora and her family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert.

To the family…I wish you peace in this time. Nori was perhaps one of the most talented and loving people that I have ever met. She called me on my last birthday and sang happy birthday to me…It was so precious and I will never forget it. Earlier we had a long conversation on the phone and we connected so deeply. I will always remember her as a true family involved, loving person. And!!!! I cherish her for just being HER…!!! She stood strong and loved deep. So to you Nori. I know you have been welcomed in heaven and I know you have NOT left us …but will live in our hearts forever....Juanita Golay

Visiting Aunt Nora was such a treat. She always had numerous projects she had created and was creating with each new visit. Seeing what she was up to was always exciting. She is the most creative person I've ever known. Since I can remember, she always treated me like I was special, important, and loved. Seeing her ease, love, and joy with Mable melted my heart… bringing back memories of how she treats littles as the most important. She really has a great love and finds joy in children, just like the Savior. Love You Aunt Nora...Tiffany Schenk
I’m sorry to say that I didn’t know Nora other than we shared pews at Burley 7th Ward for years .

our Mortal lives...Danny
