Helen Boyer, age 85 of Burley, passed away on January 11, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Helen was born March 3, 1940, in Los Angeles, California and was adopted by Joe and Lucille Dorsey.

When she was 20, she and her son John, born from a previous marriage, moved to Hagerman, Idaho where she worked as a waitress in a restaurant owned by her parents. It was there that she met and married Milton Boyer. They moved to Minidoka and eventually settled in Burley, Idaho. They had 8 children together: Dorinna, Aaron, Elizabeth, Nathanael, Hannah, Benjamin, Mary, and Jacob.

It was a challenge keeping everyone fed, but with a giant pot of pinto beans and a ham bone, she managed. Nobody would say she was a “helicopter parent,” but occasionally she would send “search and rescue” out to find one of them.

Helen first attended a Pentecostal church in Rupert where she was baptized in Jesus name and received the Holy Ghost. She later spent her remaining years attending Truth Tabernacle in Burley with some of her children and grandchildren.

Helen loved to play board games, draw, paint, scrapbook, crochet, and many other various crafting activities. She would often say “Don’t throw that away, I can use it for a craft!” She also collected anything Coca-Cola, whether big or small. She loved to hear and tell jokes / puns no matter how ridiculous they were. She always had a ready smile, and an “I love you.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her 9 children and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved very much.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at the Truth Tabernacle Church located at 2459 Hiland Ave in Burley, Idaho. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home located on the Burley, Rupert Highway.

John, Dawn and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I have fond memories of looking at her s & p collection and her hearty laugh. My condolences to you all. With Love, Lori and Al Chapa

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Helen we can remember when she would let the boys come down the canal during the winter and they would make snow forts with Mike out in the front yard and she would come down and come and get them after they had been there playing almost all day because she knew where they were and knew they were safe but she would tell them always it's getting dark let's go..
