Bruce Bea Thompson, 80, of Burley, Idaho, passed away on May 12, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born on February 1, 1946 in Wendell, Idaho to James Cliff Thompson and Grace Alline Bishop Thompson. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England Mission from 1965 to 1967. A proud Vietnam veteran, he served honorably in the U.S. Army from October 1967 to June 1969. For his service, he was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart, and the Vietnam Service Medal.

After his military service, Bruce returned to Citrus Heights, California where he married his wife, Nancy Anne Schwab Thompson. They married in the Oakland Temple on May 22, 1970. He worked as a General Contractor and then for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the North America West Regional Facilities Manager. After retirement, he relocated to Idaho and served as a Cassia County School Board Trustee from 2017 through 2021.

He will be remembered for his kindness, work ethic, sense of humor, love for the outdoors, and his passion for watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Above all, he was known for his love of the gospel of Jesus Christ and his deep devotion to his family and friends. He built a life dedicated to God and to his family.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Nancy Thompson; his children Clista (Jay) Graff, Leslie (Jason) Bos, Jared (Tiffany) Thompson, Darce (Troy) Bair, and Nolan (Tanalee) Thompson; 19 grandchildren; 6 grandchildren-in-law; and siblings, Nolan Thompson, Ned Thompson, and Connie Mariner. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Gary Thompson, Patricia Cecil, Chad Thompson, and Troy Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19th at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Unity Building, 275 South 250 East, Burley, Idaho. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
