She attended school in Menard Texas. She met her husband at dances in surrounding areas.
Carlotta married Guadalupe U. Rodriguez on her 16th birthday, beginning a family story that
grew far beyond what she first imagined. Her marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls,
Idaho temple.
After her Marriage, they lived in Menard Texas and started their family and moved to Idaho after
her husband came home from the military. Though she once said she only wanted four children,
she lovingly welcomed fifteen: Carolina, Lupe Jr. I, Emma Rodriguez (Robert Fisher), Louisa
Rodriguez (Antonio Barela) Ramon Rodriguez (Susan), Lorina Rodriguez (Jamie Hofhine), Lupe
Rodriguez Jr. II (Julie), Dolores Rodriguez (Graig Ralph), Susanna Rodriguez (Dale Jones), Joe
Rodriguez (Veronica), Irene Rodriguez (Mark Hofhine), David Rodriguez (Kathy), Dora
Rodriguez (Ed Thomas), Lydia Rodriguez (London Cook), and Tony Rodriguez (Jennifer). Her
children were her greatest joy, and she devoted her life to raising them with patience, strength,
and a heart that never stopped giving. She raised her children in Burley and Oakley.
She loved flowers, and to do embroidery, tie quilts and take rides in the car.
She worked for her husband as a cook who had a large sheep shearing company for as many as
50 workers. In her later years she also worked for Vaughn Woodhouse at Middle Mountain
Potato company. Because of her talent and skills they put her and Shirley Jackson in charge of
parties and food for the workers activities.
She was known for her gentle, nonjudgmental nature — accepting everyone, even those who felt
imperfect or overlooked. Carlotta had a gift for seeing the good in people and offering kindness
without hesitation. Her generosity was quiet but constant, expressed through service,
compassion, and the way she cared for anyone who needed help.
A hard worker all her life, Carlotta learned her love for caring for animals from her grandfather,
Dario Rodriguez, and carried that tenderness throughout her years. She was an exceptional
cook, especially of traditional Mexican dishes, and her kitchen was a place where family
gathered, stories were shared, and love was served in every meal. She adored flowers, found joy
in nurturing living things, and had a natural instinct for caring for others.
Carlotta’s faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she held a deep love for the Savior and lived her beliefs through
humility, service, and quiet strength. Her testimony was reflected not in words alone, but in the
way she treated people — with acceptance, forgiveness, and Christlike love.
She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and compassion that will continue through her
children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. Her family finds comfort
knowing she is reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and rests now in peace.
Carlotta’s life was long, but her influence will be longer still — carried in the meals she taught
her children to make, the flowers she tended, the animals she cared for, and the love she gave so
freely. Carlotta was preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe Rodriguez and six of her children: Carolina, Lupe Jr I, Ramon(Buddy) Rodriguez, Emma Fisher, Irene Hofhine, and Tony Rodriguez, and also 4 sisters: Ascencion Rodriguez, Shauna Medellin, Dorotea Rodriguez and Martina Gonzalez, and 4brothers: George Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Julian Rodriguez, and Pete Rodriguez.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Remmy Burton who worked for Enhabit Hospice Company for the great care and Comfort she provided for our dear mother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Oakley Stake Center. Burial will follow in the Oakley Cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 at the church prior to the funeral. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home in Rupert.
