Charles (Chuck) Pat Reas, 87 year old Burley resident, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He passed away from natural causes with complications from Lewy-Body Dementia.

Chuck, an only child, was born on August 18, 1929 in Liberal, Kansas to Fred and Dorothy Reas.  During his high school years he worked for the U.S. Forest Service.  After graduating from Caldwell High School, he attended Cal Poly University for two years majoring in air conditioning and refrigeration, and was then drafted into the Korean Conflict.  He was stationed in Germany for two years and was honorably discharged with a good conduct medal.

Chuck then went to work for the JR Simplot Company in Caldwell.  In 1958, he was transferred to Heyburn to oversee the building of the refrigeration part of the new JR Simplot Company.  After almost 30 years, he retired as plant facilities manager and did consulting work for other Simplot plants as well as volunteering for the Simcoe Credit Union.

Chuck and Joyce Hill were married in Emmett, Idaho in 1959.  To this union they welcomed two sons, Mike and Mark.

Chuck loved to travel whether it was on the Snake River pulling the family skiers, traveling down the Middle Fork with the scouts, to numerous dog shows or getting wood from the south hills.  Eventually he and Joyce spent many enjoyable hours traveling with the D.L. Evans Premier Club.

He was a 20 plus year volunteer at the Cassia Hospital and the Burley-Rupert Chamber of Commerce earning Volunteer of the Year for both.

Chuck will always be remembered as a loving husband (of 57 years), son, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, sons Michael (Cheryl) of American Falls, ID and Mark (Amber) of Federal Way, WA.  Three grandchildren, Caitlin of American Falls, ID, Cadence and Charlie of Federal Way, WA.  Sisters in law Bonnie Hill of Jerome, Joan Hill of Boise, Judy Thelin of San Ramon, CA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in laws Cash and Rose Hill, five brothers in law Alan, Doyle, Gene, Larry and son Rex Hill and Gale Thelen.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Parkview therapists, Cassia Home Health and Hospice for their loving assistance and care (especially Irene and Stephanie) for their loving care that helped brighten the last days.
