Randall Reed Andersen age 68 passed away at Cassia Regional Hospital December 15th, 2022, in Burley Idaho after battling lymphoma.

Randall was born in Pocatello August 19, 1954, at St. Anthony Mercy Hospital to Harvey Reed Andersen and Ruby Nelson Andersen Parish. Randall grew up in Pocatello and raised hell with his two younger brothers, Ricky, and Rodney. He attended both Pocatello and Highland High School. Randall loved the outdoors, both hunting and fishing, but his favorite place to be was Arbon Valley spending time with his grand dad, Harvey. He spent nearly every summer in Arbon helping granddad farm, exploring the nearby mountains, and cherished the time he spent salmon fishing with his dad at Sunbeam Dam.

In 1972, Randall and 4 of his buddies joined the Marines. He was stationed in San Diego, then spent about a year in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam war. He was proud to be a marine and serve our country, and he earned his high school diploma in 1975 while enlisted.

After his time in the service, Randall moved back to Idaho and reunited with his junior high school sweetheart, Barbara Hopkins. They married in 1977 and had their first son, Weston Reed. Randall obtained his Associates of Applied Science from College of Southern Idaho July 1978. They settled in the Mini-Cassia area, had their second child Emily Lou, and soon moved to Albion, ID where they raised their two children. He worked many years for Boise Cascade in Burley and later years in Nampa, with various jobs in between. Randall worked hard and played harder. On the weekends he spent his time with his family and friends making memories whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, or some big project he wanted to get accomplished around the house.   He spent many Sunday’s attending church with his family and was baptized with them at First Baptist Church.  He took pride in his home and was very talented in everything that he did. He enjoyed raising birds, growing a garden, remodeling the house, or wrenching on anything and everything.

In 1997 Randall moved to Boise and married Chris Mitchem, together they had 2 children, twins, Conner Reed, and Amelia Marie. They spent several years in Marsing and later moved to McCall.  Randall loved McCall and all that it had to offer.  He loved picking Morels in the spring, riding horses with his kids, teaching them how to hunt and fish, and hanging out with his best buddy Brewster, a golden lab.

In 2010 Randall was diagnosed with Mantel Cell Lymphoma and spent several months fighting it. He overcame the odds and stayed healthy for 12 more years. In 2012 he moved back to Burley where he made lots of new friends and enjoyed bumping into old friends from years past.   Randall had a heart of gold, he loved his kids, and was so proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed living close to his brother Rick and being able to spend so much time with his mom Ruby before her passing.

Randall is survived by his children, Weston (Heather) Andersen, Emily (Sterling) Adams, Conner Andersen, and Amelia Andersen, grandchildren Brighten, Kenidy, and McKinley.  Brothers, Rick, and Rodney.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Reed Andersen, stepmother Carol Andersen, mother, Ruby Parish, and his best buddy Brewster.

We would like to thank all the staff from Cassia Regional Medical Center and Family Health services for their great care and hospitality.

At his request, no formal service will be held, Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Morrison Funeral Home and Crematory in Rupert, Idaho.
