After John was discharged from the Army, they returned to Idaho where they continued to raise their children. She worked many jobs that she enjoyed, especially the dairies where she was able to spend time with the cows. Later John and Darlene divorced but remained lifelong friends.
Darlene then met and married the love of her life William “Bill” Cole known to many as Papa, who brought three daughters into her life that she loved like her own: Connie, Janet, and Stacey. Together they added two more sons to their “his, mine, and ours.” Eddy and Jimmy.
They spent the majority of their lives together living in Declo, Idaho in their salvage yard. Mom never met a stranger and became known as Mamma or Ma Cole too many.

Condolences:
Spook, Darla, Tabitha, Eddy, Jimmy & all of our family … .. .. no words can ease the pain of losing someone who was loved as much as Auntie D. was. If they could, I would write each and every one of you, a trilogy novel. Since that is impossible just know that I leave you with my thoughts and prayers during this overwhelming time of loss. Aunt Darlene was such a uniquely awesome lady. She loved laugh & make everybody around her feel loved. Whether it was cottonwood in the mountains or hunting deer, making jam, canning pickles or having a mountain lion run through our camp in the middle of the night it was always a memory making day if she was there. I feel such an emptiness with her passing words can't explain it. Love you all my deepest sympathy... Teresa Stone-Broncheau
