Dan Craig Landers
May 30, 1935 –  June 25, 2025

Dan Landers, 90, of Paul, Idaho, passed away on June 25, 2025. Dan was born to Martin and Lucille Landers on May 30, 1935, in Coalinga, California. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Dorene Hermansen. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on June 9th. Together, they built a life full of hard work, love, and family.

Throughout his life, Dan had several careers. He owned a janitorial business in Southern California before relocating to Paul, Idaho, in 1976, where he purchased and operated Harvey’s Eggs for many years. Dan later worked as an agricultural inspector at the USDA, from which he retired in the early 2000s.

In retirement, Dan became known as “The Pumpkin Man,” growing and running an annual pumpkin patch north of Paul, Idaho, for over 30 years. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing, camping, and hunting. Gardening was a lifelong hobby, and for many years, he organized a local garden club in Paul, Idaho. In his later years, Dan discovered a love for gourd art, carving and painting pieces that he sold at art shows.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorene Landers; children, Daneen Rutledge, Craig Landers, Cory Landers, and Jason Landers (Melissa); his sister, Ardith; and grandchildren, Taylor Rutledge (Katy), Ethan Landers, and Carter Landers.

Dan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those touched by his warmth, humor, and gift of gab.

A celebration of his life will be held on July 12th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Paul LDS Stake Center, 424 W Ellis St., in Paul, Idaho. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his life.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dorene and family. We were blessed to be neighbors for 7 years and truly enjoyed our friendship with Dan, Dorene and Craig. Dan was a great friend to everyone who knew him. We admired him for his hard work and his artistry, including his gardening skills and his ability to showcase his products. It was fun to be part of the pumpkin patch. We're gonna miss you greatly, Dan!... Arnie and Vicki Hansen

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Landers death. I loved visiting his beautiful pumpkin patch as I came to Paul! That field next to the house was a sight to behold each fall with his flaming orange pumpkins! I became interested in starting my own little pumpkin patch with his advice and helpful tips. The area just lost a smiling, happy, and kind man....Jerrilynn
